Peace for the Streets by Kids from the Streets (PSKS).

PSKS provides Shelter and support services. Prioritizing human safety, health and security for Seattle area homeless youth and young adults. They offer education, employment and housing support to help participants get back on their feet and become engaged, self sufficient members of the community

LEAP Lasting Employment Advancement Program

Leap empowers homeless youth and young adults and builds their job readiness skills through a four-month, 10 hour/week paid internship. Interns share their gifts and talents with the PSKS community, learn employment skills, and develop work experience to be listed on a resume. Two of the internship opportunities are Queer Youth Community Organizing (QYCO) positions and two are in the HYPE drop-in center.

  • Requirements to participate in a LEAP internship:
  • Between the ages of 18-26
  • Experiencing homelessness or unstable housing
  • Able to commit to a 16 week Internship
  • If applying for the Queer Youth Community Organizing, self identify as LGBTQ

HYPE Homeless Youth for Peace + Empowerment 

HYPE is a peer-driven day program that helps teach street involved and homeless youth and young adults to advocate for themselves and includes workshops, community meetings, volunteerism and outreach.  Through HYPE participants learn about other opportunities within PSKS including Core Membership, case management, GED testing and employment training and support.

Participants in HYPE have access to:

  • Hot meals
  • Shelter
  • Clothing
  • Laundry
  • Personal care items
  • Showers
  • Technology center

The HYPE drop-in center is open Mon/Tues/Wed/Fri from 12-3pm.

RISE Re-Inventing Steps To Education Learning Center at PSKS

RISE provides an educational safety net for homeless students who have been turned away from virtually every other opportunity. RISE provides educational encouragement and support to youth at a time in their lives when a positive experience with education will dramatically boost their economic and social success.

The RISE Learning Center operates under a low barrier model and does not have math or reading grade level requirements. RISE provides individualized academic support for each student who walks through our doors regardless of educational background.
