United Way provides free tax preparation help on a first-come, first-served basis, where walk-ins are welcome. A return appointment may be required. The IRS announced that it will not start processing tax returns until Monday, Jan. 28 due to the government shutdown. United Way of Snohomish County’s free tax preparation sites will open, as normal, on or after Tuesday, Jan. 22 (see list of site times for details to the left or at the link below). Staff will be on site that week to begin preparing tax returns for walk-ins and appointments, but there will be a delay in returns until after the official IRS start date. Dropped off tax returns will not be accepted until after Monday, Jan. 28.This service is available January - April 18, 2017. People earning $64,000 a year or less are eligible for free tax preparation. Se habla espanol. Find out which health insurance and food assistance program you and your family are eligible for.

  2. Tax Prep
IRS-trained tax preparers complete clients’ taxes at remote tax prep locations.

  3. Return Pick Up
Taxpayers can return to pick-up their tax return one week later, at the same location and during the same hours as they dropped off their return. Tax counselor will e-file the return with the client, walk through next steps, and answer questions. Approximate time: 10-20 minutes.
